Hof van Asselbergs; “An inner-city residential court with historical character”!
Hof van Asselbergs, an inner-city residential court in a unique location in the center of Bergen op Zoom. At the beginning of the 18th century, a beautiful historical city wall still stood at this location. Over the years, the city wall lost its function. The residential court owes its name to Arnoldus Asselbergs. Arnoldus Asselbergs was a Bergen op Zoom industrialist who decided to reuse the top layer of stones from the city wall for the construction of Stationstraat in Bergen op Zoom. The new construction project Hof van Asselbergs is built in the backyard of Stationstraat. This explains the name of this project.
According to a design by architect Mulleners + Mulleners and commissioned by Stadlander, the Nederlandse Bouw Unie (NBU) has built a beautiful residential court. During the construction of Hof van Asselbergs, the partly preserved city wall was excavated and made visible to the public. Under the guidance of a tour guide, it is possible to visit the underground city wall.
The new construction project consists of 63 social rental apartments and 17 life-cycle resistant rental single-family homes. The fitting architecture blends well with the historical environment in which Hof van Asselbergs is built. The diverse architectural styles together form one beautiful whole.
We have also contributed with our products to the finishing of this beautiful residential court. The diversity of architectural styles in one residential court has allowed us to supply a variety of products. For example, you will find Holonite window frames in white at the apartments. This white color creates a beautiful contrast with the dark bricks and other white elements. In the finishing of the single-family homes, you will find various custom-made Holonite products, including these same window frames. The design of this beautiful project shows that attention has been paid to the smallest details. The frame around the doorpost and the window, including the window sill, ensure that these separate elements become a whole. Finally, the wall copings provide a beautiful finish to the homes.
