New Crematorium Construction in de Wetering-Zuid

DELA cooperative has realized a new crematorium with funeral facilities at the de Wetering-Zuid business park in collaboration with Povse & Timmermans architects & engineers and construction company J.A. van Gisbergen. Recently, businesses with a social purpose have also been allowed to establish themselves in the business park. As the adjacent neighborhoods of Leidsche Rijn and Vleuten are steadily developing, this brings an increasing demand for new facilities. In addition to shops, sports facilities, and health centers, there was also a need for funeral facilities. DELA took up the challenge and submitted a plan to the municipality of Utrecht. The result is a sleek, modern, and accessible crematorium with ample parking spaces in a green and spacious environment. The round design was conceived by Povse & Timmermans architects & engineers and executed by construction company van Gisbergen, coming into its own in this expansive and tranquil environment.

In this project, Holonite contributed with custom insulated facade plinths that form a long, rounded list, adorning the base of the amoeba-shaped building while simultaneously protecting it against moisture and dirt.
