An ode to the ’70s, IJsselmuiden revived in a modern guise.

An ode to the ’70s, IJsselmuiden revived in a modern guise.

The iconic high-rise buildings from the ’70s make way for sustainable, modern apartment complexes. In the heart of IJsselmuiden, contractor Mateboer Bouw is realizing no less than 107 new homes. KHV Architects has created a design for Housing Association Beter Wonen that nods to the past while being future-proof.

Horizontal Harmony with Holonite

To accentuate the horizontal lines of the building and provide a low-maintenance solution, Holonite composite stone was chosen. The window sills, string courses, and wall copings in a timeless brownish-gray shade provide subtle yet effective lineation. This enhances the building’s appearance and creates a sense of calm and unity.
